Consumer Price Index
The year-on-year variation rate of the CPI in the Canary Islands stood at 2.9% in July 2024, which represents a decrease of two tenths of a percentage point with respect to the previous month’s figure (3.1%). At the national level, this rate takes the value of 2.8%.
Oils and fats (30.7%), sheep meat (15.7%) and fresh vegetables (10.1%) are among the most inflationary goods and services. On the other hand, there were decreases of 11.0% in clothing accessories and repairs, 3.1% in milk and 2.7% in women’s footwear.
The monthly variation rate in July in the Canary Islands was -0.4%, placing the variation so far this year at 1.6%. On the other hand, the annual rate of the general index without unprocessed food and energy products (core inflation) took the value of 2.6%, one tenth of a percentage point lower than that recorded in June (2.7%). At the national level, this rate reached 2.8%.
