INE publishes the leading indicator of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the leading indicator of the Harmonized Consumer Price Index (IPCA)

INE publica el Indicador adelantado del Índice de Precios de Consumo (IPC) e Indicador adelantado del Índice de Precios de Consumo Armonizado (IPCA)
October 2024

The estimated annual CPI inflation in October 2024 is 1.8%, according to the leading indicator prepared by the INE.

This indicator provides an advance of the CPI which, if confirmed, would mean an increase of three tenths in its annual rate, since in the month of September this variation was 1.5%.

This evolution is mainly due to the increase in fuel prices, and also, although to a lesser extent, to the increase in electricity and gas prices, which fell in October 2023.

The estimated annual variation rate of core inflation (general index without unprocessed food or energy products) increases by one tenth, to 2.5%.

Monthly rate evolution
Consumer prices registered a rate of 0.6% in October compared to September, according to the CPI leading indicator.

Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HICP)
In the month of October, the estimated annual variation rate of the IPCA stands at 1.8%, one tenth above that registered the previous month.

For its part, the estimated monthly variation of the IPCA is 0.4%.
