INE publishes the Advance Indicator of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). Advance Indicator of the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP)
Octubre 2024

Estimated annual CPI inflation in October 2024 is 1.8%, according to the leading indicator compiled by the INE.

This indicator provides an advance in the CPI which, if confirmed, would represent an increase of three tenths of a percentage point in its annual rate, since in September this variation was 1.5%.

This evolution is mainly due to the increase in fuel prices, and also, although to a lesser extent, to the rise in electricity and gas prices, which fell in October 2023.

The estimated annual rate of change of core inflation (headline index excluding unprocessed food and energy products) increases by one tenth of a percentage point to 2.5%.

Evolution of the monthly rate
Consumer prices register a rate of 0.6% in October with respect to September, according to the leading indicator of the CPI.

Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP)
In the month of October, the estimated annual change rate of the HICP stands at 1.8%, one tenth of a percentage point higher than that recorded the previous month.

The estimated monthly change of the HICP was 0.4%.
