Annual inflation in the euro area falls to 2.2%.
Euro area annual inflation is expected to be 2.2% in August 2024, down from 2.6% in July, according to a preliminary estimate by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, services are expected to have the highest annual rate in August (4.2%, up from 4.0% in July), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (2.4%, up from 2.3% in July), non-energy industrial goods (0.4%, up from 0.7% in July) and energy (-3.0%, down from 1.2% in July).
