The business activity falls in February
The turnover of Spanish non-financial companies fell 1.9% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, according to provisional data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
After eliminating seasonal and calendar effects, the annual growth rate remains negative, standing at -1.9%. However, the original series, without seasonal adjustment, shows a slight growth of 0.9%.
Monthly Evolution
Compared to January 2024, non-seasonally adjusted business turnover experienced a slight growth of 0.2%. However, this growth was slowed down by the 3.0% drop registered in the Electricity, water, sanitation and waste management sector.
Trade was the sector that experienced the highest monthly growth, with an increase of 2.3%.
In general, the INE data show a slight slowdown in business activity in February, with negative year-on-year growth in turnover.
