INE publishes Business Confidence Indicators (BCI)
Fourth quarter 2024

Business confidence falls by 1.2% in the fourth quarter compared with the third quarter.
All five sectors analysed decrease in confidence with respect to the previous quarter. Industry (-3.0%) presented the greatest decrease. Trade (-0.4%) recorded the smallest decline.

By employee bracket, the five ranges analysed decreased in confidence as compared with the previous quarter. 1,000 or more employees (-1.5%) presents the largest decrease. Less than 10 employees (-1.1%) recorded the smallest decline.

Opinions on the quarter ahead (Expectations)

21.6% of managers of business establishments considered that the performance of their business would be favourable in the fourth quarter, while 14.8% were of the opinion that it would be unfavourable.
11.3% of business establishment managers believe that employment will increase in the fourth quarter, while 12.2% believe that it will decrease.

With regard to the evolution of the price level, 11.1% expect it to rise in the fourth quarter, while 5.7% expect it to fall.

Results by Autonomous Community
Business confidence decreases in the fourth quarter of 2024 as compared with the previous quarter in 13 Autonomous Communities and increases in four.

The largest decreases occurred in Illes Balears (-4.8%), País Vasco (-4.0%) and Cantabria (-3.8%).

The largest increases were in the Canary Islands (2.4%), Galicia (1.7%) and Región de Murcia (0.7%).
