ISTAC publishes 6,527 thematic maps with labor indicators for the Canary Islands in its open data catalog

Labor Indicators for the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) has enriched its open data catalog by incorporating 6,527 new thematic maps that provide detailed labor indicators for the Canary Islands. These maps, which cover information from 2011 to 2023, are based on 89 data sets reflecting the territorial boundaries of the islands. With this addition, the ISTAC catalog now includes a total of 20,247 data sets.

The maps present annual data calculated as averages derived from the Active Registered Population Statistics (EPA-Reg) indicators, an ISTAC-specific operation that has been published quarterly since 2024. This statistic offers a detailed view of employment and unemployment in the Canary Islands, from the island level down to the suburban level.

In addition to data on employment and unemployment, the maps include other key indicators related to the active registered population. These include the municipal employment seeker rate, the youth employment seeker rate, the basic indicators of the number of employed and unemployed individuals, and the salarization rate, among others. This new addition provides a valuable tool for analysis and decision-making in labor matters in the Canary Islands.
