Cooperation between the Canary Islands and Africa is at a decisive moment. A new report, prepared with the participation of Corporación 5, highlights that vocational training is a strategic tool to move towards more effective, two-way collaboration adapted to the current challenges of the region.
The African continent, despite facing challenges such as political instability and vulnerability to climate change, has great potential for the development of renewable energy and has more than 60% of the world’s untapped arable land. These opportunities, combined with a young and dynamic population, open a range of possibilities for collaboration.
The report proposes a cooperative approach based on strengthening vocational training systems in Africa. Initiatives such as developing continental qualifications frameworks and promoting training in key sectors such as the green economy and digitalisation are essential to drive inclusive and sustainable growth.
From the Canary Islands, programs such as the Canary Islands-Africa Scholarships and the “Teach Africa” project are already contributing to building bridges and fostering mutual understanding. The report concludes that, by investing in human capital and quality training, the foundations are laid for a future of shared prosperity between both continents.
